GIZ-BtG have published a paper (draft version) entitled ‘Transport Readiness for Climate
Finance – A framework to access climate finance in the transport sector’.
The paper aims to highlight
the existing funds and opportunities, to provide a clear understanding on how
to have access to these climate finance flows, and to catalogue what is needed
in terms of performance tracking.
Part One presents the major
climate financing mechanisms and institutions that fund transport, noting their
orientation towards transport investments and an overview of how to gain access
to funding. Part Two discusses the
preconditions for accessing and receiving climate finance in the transport
sector and the major challenges involved in this process. Part Three describes
the challenges and best practices of measurement, reporting, and verification
(MRV) of emissions impacts from policy action.
